Recording Industry alumnus Eric Paslay’s (’05) self-titled debut album shot to No. 2 this week on iTunes country album chart. Featuring his No. 1 hit single “Friday Night,” the album showcases his singing and songwriting abilities, talents which have been recognized for years by some of the biggest artists in Nashville. As a songwriter, Paslay has written hits for Jake Owens (“Barefoot Blue Jeans Night”) and Eli Young Band (“Even If It Breaks Your Heart”) and has shared vocals with Amy Grant and Sheryl Crow on his song “Deep As It is Wide.”
Originally from Temple, Texas, Paslay moved to Nashville after high school to attend the College of Mass Communication to study music business. He interned with Cal4 Entertainment during his senior year, which led to a song publishing deal, which in turn led to a recording contract with EMI Records Nashville in 2011. Paslay has opened for Little Big Town, Jake Owen and the Eli Young Band, and will be on the road again with Brantley Gilbert’s 2014 “Let It Ride Tour,” which kicks off March 27.
